I am trained as a biologist and since the beginning of my career I have had a great interest in agroecology and the relationship between agriculture and the environment. I currently work in the Climate Action Unit at CATIE (Centro Agronomico Tropical de Investigación y Enseñanza), Costa Rica, where I coordinate and collaborate with projects related to landscape restoration, forest governance and regenerative food businesses in Latin America. In addition, I am part of the coordination team of the Latin American Model Forest Network (RLABM), where I work to promote participatory governance of landscapes and facilitate the connection of different territories in the region.
I see regeneration as a new and urgent opportunity to reconcile human society with nature (perhaps one of the last?). It is a vision that, grounded in practices adaptable to any context, goes beyond not harming the environment, but seeks an understanding of belonging, where caring for and strengthening the environment are the fundamental basis for the success of any human activity in the long-term.
