Ximena Rueda

Associate Professor at the Faculty of Administration of the Universidad de los Andes. Currently, she works as Technical Sub-director of the Our Prosperous Land Program, financed by USAID. She is an economist from the Universidad de los Andes (1992) and has a Ph.D. in Geography from Clark University (2007), a Master's in Urban Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1997), and a Master's in Economics from Universidad de los Andes (1994).

Her research interests include the impacts of globalization on local ecosystems and rural communities, the relationships between global value chains and land use, and the design and implementation of private mechanisms to promote sustainability in agricultural chains. She is also interested in analyzing global food systems, the telecoupling of socio-ecological systems, and adaptation to climate change.
