The RFB Consortium was born within the framework of the Project Regenerative Food Businesses and investment with a gender lens: regeneration for a better reconstruction of the Amazon and the Central American Dry Corridor of Latin America and the Caribbean, funded by IDRC Canada and coordinated by the AVINA Foundation.

Our objective is to provide, through the HUB and other parallel spaces, the dissemination of learning and knowledge generated throughout the Project that this Consortium has developed.
We also hope to facilitate the construction of bridges towards fruitful interactions between food businesses that are in different stages of the regenerative process and other actors that are interested in investing and supporting those businesses to accomplish their objective, evolve their achievements and regenerate the landscapes and their different realities.
With a first phase of three years, 2022/2024, the initiative is divided into three central axes:
The objective of this component was to map cases with a potential regenerative approach, identified under criteria and classifications previously suggested by the consortium. Based on the general mapping, businesses have been selected for the development of a more in depth study, in order to better understand the environmental, socioeconomic and gender aspects that characterize the businesses.
Through the acceleration experience of 10 businesses and the results of the studies carried out in another 15 cases with a regenerative approach, financial and non-financial support tools and strategies are being developed, grounded in the Latin American context in order to help strengthen the NAR ecosystem.
This axis has the objective of promoting learning and practice communities with businesses and actors that support the RFB ecosystem, and strengthen regenerative action throughout the Latin American territory. For this, a space is being built to disseminate all the information, results and tools, developed by the Consortium and that allows different forms of interaction of that network. In addition, based on the results and exchanges of this knowledge, public policy strategies will be developed for the RFB ecosystem and support tools for businesses and actors who want to continue under this approach. This is the axis of the Project that gives "life" to the present RFB HUB.
We are a plural consortium of 10 organizations interested in strengthening the ecosystem of regenerative food businesses in Latin America and the Caribbean. Our actions are based on a holistic view, based on the ecological and socio-cultural particularities of the landscapes and on the urgent need to promote the gender approach as a cross-cutting aspect in the context of the businesses we want to strengthen.
The objective of the Consortium's initiative is to address urgent, global problems, especially in the Latin American and Caribbean context. We are currently experiencing a climate crisis that directly affects food systems, especially the populations that are historically at the base of the functioning of this system.
The food and nutritional sovereignty and security of this system is weakened at different levels, from the production or collection of the food, to their consumption. There are conflicts of interest in the public and private spheres that often drive this crisis.
To face and reverse the scenario of socio-environmental degradation, it is necessary to strengthen productive landscapes and the entire value chain associated with businesses and initiatives that seek ways of regenerating their territories and the associated ecological and social context, mainly at the local and regional level, promoting short value chains and fair markets.
The RFB HUB is the result of a collective construction of a consortium formed by different Latin American organizations that believe in the positive transformation of food systems towards the regeneration of landscapes and societies. The consortium is currently made up of 10 Organizations linked through the RFB Project: Regenerative food businesses and investment with a gender lens: regeneration for a better reconstruction of the Amazon and the Central American Dry Corridor of Latin America and the Caribbean.
