Specialist in agroforestry systems and sustainable agriculture from the Agrobiodiversity and Food Security Unit-CATIE, where she is involved in development and research projects, mainly aimed at the CSC, the Caribbean and the Amazon, on issues such as the design and implementation of agroforestry systems, production sustainable agriculture, food security and added value, regenerative agriculture among others. Likewise, it coordinates the CATIE-caprine agrosilvopastoral demonstration module, in which management and innovation strategies are developed, aimed at improving production under a sustainable and profitable circular system.
The conviction of working under a regenerative food systems approach comes from understanding that in order to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable production, while population density increases, it is necessary to provide support and viable alternatives to the producers. Regenerative agriculture seeks to restore and improve ecosystems, promoting soil health, biodiversity and resilience, taking into account the interactions of natural and productive systems, to avoid adverse effects and promote a balance between the communities and ecosystems involved. It is essential to understand that forest conservation, regenerative production and responsible food consumption must go hand in hand to achieve true sustainability.
